NCFE CACHE Level 2 Certificate An Introduction to Early Years Education and Care

This course develops the skills and knowledge that you need to work with children between birth and 5 years, with knowledge of children up to 7. It is accredited by NCFE Cache and is currently offered as an eLearning programme. It’s suitable for you if you:

  • Are starting out on your childcare career
  • Have been working in childcare for a while and wish to formalise all that knowledge
  • Are working as a nanny and want an initial qualification
  • Would like to work as a Nursery assistant or Classroom assistant

Upon achievement of this qualification, learners can progress onto our Level 3 early years educator awards.

Extra charge: Cache registration fee £124 (we note this separately as some learners undertake this course without wishing to gain the full qualification. Our recommendation is to register for the CACHE award.

Course duration

10-12 months

250 hours in a real work environment

Your personal tutor/assessor will assess you using various methods. You must either already be working in a childcare role or be prepared to undertake a voluntary placement for a minimum of 250 hours. On completion of the training, you will be able to work as an assistant worker in settings such as a nursery, School, Play Group, or Children’s centre.

This course carries 33 credits.

Learners must achieve 33 credits: 29 credits from mandatory units plus four credits from optional units.
