Description
By the end of the session students will be able to:
- Demonstrate an awareness of what Epilepsy is and recognition of different seizure types
- List some factors that influence how epilepsy affects a child
- Recognise possible trigger factors
- Be able to support an adult/ children/young person experiencing seizures, ensuring their safety and dignity
- Demonstrate awareness of the importance of observing and recording seizure activity
- Describe some safety measures that can be taken in order to keep children with epilepsy safe
- Understand the need for balancing risk and achieving a quality of life
- Be able to undertake a risk assessment for a child with epilepsy
- Create an individual healthcare plan (IHP) for a child with epilepsy
- Demonstrate an understanding of the epilepsy emergency management plan
- List some barriers to inclusion
- Support parents/family members in understanding the condition
